Srilanka vs India Live - CB Series Match 8

Srilanka vs India Live

Match Update - Srilanka beats India by 51 runs

Just couple of days ago India was on the top of points table but the narrow margin between the three teams was always a threat for the top team. India lost badly to Australia and conceded a bonus point too. Now India takes on Srilanka at Gabba. This is the same pitch where India lost to Australia. The team that tops the points table now is Australia with 14 points and a net run rate of +0.43, followed by India 10 points and a net run rate of -0.67 (worst among the three). Srilanka is on the third position with 7 points and a net run rate of +0.32. Srilanka has one win, a tie and a bonus point and they have played a match lesser than the other two. So if they manage a win here, they would topple India to clinch the second position.

MS Dhoni who has been the best batsman for India in this CB series 2012 is banned for a match due to slow over rate in the last match. India generally doesn't play 4 pacers at a time. They experimented this at Gabba in the last match and fell short of time to complete their quota of 50 overs. The same experiment this time would be harmful. Also India may have to play with Sachin, Sehwag and Gambhir together out of which there are fitness concerns for Sachin and Sehwag.

Srilanka looks to be a more balanced side now after an emphatic win over Australia. Skipper Jayawardene whose form was a concern; scored a half century in last match to regain his lost form.  We may not see any major changes in the Srilankan playing eleven. Probabilities are high that they would pitch in more pacers this time. Absence of Dhoni is a big worry for India but Sri Lanka won't take them lightly.

Gabba hasn't produced good results for Srilanka so far but this is a good opportunity for them to better their record as India is under immense pressure with fitness issues and absence of their captain cool MS Dhoni. This would make this match another competitive face off and a worth watch for all the cricket fans.
