Indian batsmen would be playing on one of the fastest pitches in the world. True bounce may help them time the ball well but otherwise tackling the bouncers won't be easy. Laxman, Kohli, Dravid, Gambhir, Sehwag and Dhoni badly need to click this time.


Bowlers have given a mixed kind of performance so far. At times they have done too well and many a times they have even failed to wipe off the opposition tail. Overall team India needs to take inspiration from their last match played at the same venue in the last tour. Similar was the case when India was down 0-2 followed by the "monkeygate" chapter. Some inspired bowling by Ishant Sharma gifted India a win here in 2007-08. Something similar is what the fans are expecting from the Indian team.


Australia is definitely aiming another win here as they already have their confidence level too high after an unbeatable lead of 2-0 in the series so far. With the middle order in good form and bowling clicking well; the team surely aims another win. The only concern for them is the top order which isn't in good form.


It won't be too hard to predict the match result if India doesn't play as a team here. Let us expect a tougher match this time with India putting in something inspirational. Let us also see if India makes some surprising changes to the playing eleven.

The second warm up match will be played between Pakistan Cricket Board XI and England XI.

William Porterfield will lead the ICC Comb XI which includes players from the ICC Intercontinental Cup. Porterfield felt honoured to have appointed as a captain for the team which will play against the number one Test team in the world.


England cricket coach, Andy Flower said this is a good opportunity for England players to get used to the cricketing conditions here in UAE. This match will also provide a great opportunity for ICC Combined Associate and Affiliate players to gain experience playing against International players.


Mudassar Nazar is the head coach whereas Dayle Hadlee is the bowling coach for ICC Comb XI. Meanwhile according to a recent news, Tim Bresnan will not feature in the 1st warm up match due to shoulder injury. He will make way for Steven Finn.

The test series between the heavyweights Australia and India now moves on to Sydney Cricket Ground for the 2nd test match. India faced a bitter disappointment after losing MCG test by 122 runs to Australia. The 2nd test thus becomes a vital one especially for India. Australia hold their nerves right till the end to clinch the 1st test. Otherwise both the teams looked in a winning position till 4th day of 1st test.


Australian top batting order is a worry for them. It has not really clicked well in the recent past. Bowling department has been upto the mark. The home team probably wouldn't make any changes to the playing eleven. Michael Hussey and Ricky Ponting who were under the scanner in 1st test came out with flying colours. They played with temperament and application to take their team home with a victory.


Indian test cricket is on a down slide with 5 consecutive test defeats abroad. 4 test matches on the trot against England and one against Australia at Melbourne. India definitely wants to get rid of this unwanted record. Dhoni said Australia should not take India lightly as they do bounce back hard. Dravid is concentrating on his technique to defend the incoming deliveries better. Kohli and Gambhir's form is a worrying factor for India. Probably India will go in with an unchanged side but there are slim chances of Rohit Sharma getting a chance here at SCG.

Still 2 wickets to go for Australia they can gather few more runs to add to India's target.


Fortunes in this test match are fluctuating wildly for either of the teams. Indian batsmen on day 3 couldn't provide any resistance and they conceded 51 runs to Australia. Although 51 runs look small but they can provide a winning cause on this pitch. Just like the Australian bowlers, Indian bowlers were also exceptional as they took wickets at regular intervals. Only two Australian batsmen who could spend a good amount of time on pitch were Ponting and Hussey. Yadav again took four wickets and continued his good form down under.


Day 4 can now belong to either of the teams. If Hussey can gather few more runs taking help of tail enders, they can apply more pressure on Indian batsmen. Then a lot depends of bowling of Hilfenhaus, Pattinson, Lyon and Siddle. Ball isn't coming on to the bat properly resulting in inside edges dragged on to the stumps. Batsmen need to be more careful in terms of timing the ball. Indian batsmen has a tougher task as they are the ones who would chase.


A lot is expected from Kohli, Laxman and Dhoni who failed in 1st innings. Sachin, Dravid, Gambhir and Sehwag need to contribute their best as it seems they will have to chase something more than 250 on day 4. This match could completely swing Australia's way, or it could go India's way if their batsmen click or it can go down the wire resulting in a nail biter!

A pure see-saw cricket match going out there at Melbourne. Day 1 belonged to both the teams whereas Day 2 belonged to the Indian team. It seemed India will go ahead to register atleast a lead of 100 runs to put pressure on the Australians. But things went the other way round. Any Indian who woke up at around 7 o' clock in the morning would have been shocked to see India bowled out at the stroke of lunch.


India's batting debacle resulted due to brilliant bowling performance by the Australian quickies. Dravid left for 68  runs and wickets fell tumbling after his departure. Laxman (2), Kohli (11) and Dhoni (6); a lot was expected from these three. Only batsman to hold his nerve and battle out there was Ashwin who managed valuable 31 runs from 35 balls. Hilfenhaus took 5 wickets for 75 runs. Siddle took 3 while Pattinson took 2.


Suddenly the Australians looked on top and the cricket fans speculated an emphatic win for Australia after long time. But Indian bowlers had something else in their minds. In no time Australian scorecard showed 4 down for 27 runs! 3 wickets were bowled and one was leg before wicket. Umesh Yadav has got a dream start in Australia. He took 3 wickets while Ishant had one to his name. Warner was bowled by Yadav for 5. Cowan lbw by Yadav on 8. Marsh again bowled by Yadav for 3 runs. Clarke bowled by Ishant just for 1 runs. He didn't trouble the scorers much.


Australian cricket fans will now have a lot of hopes on experienced Ponting and Hussey as they should anchor the innings towards a respectable and defendable score. MCG pitch is providing a good support to the bowlers so an overall lead of 200 would provide a fight back opportunity for Australian bowlers.
